The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Debuts, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles

Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The feature will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo has three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
