The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car You're Hoping For

We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle the community is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile the patriarch designed personally in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the enormous vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, players are getting the family's standard beat-up sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the series. For those who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car shares the identical collision model as the Dominus.

And it's not the only customization item from the show arriving in Rocket League. The event will also include a series of objectives to unlock additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will require players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

While the complete list of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also receive wheels with a television displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
