The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.
Players have started using personalized games created through the custom game tool to finish these tasks, highlighting just how grueling these missions have become.
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four classes of assignments, but while the majority merely grant cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one main guns present in the game.
Several of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you want to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Reddit user brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:
This is tough enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and possibly Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.
However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.
However, when doing the challenges in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are toned down in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.
At the moment, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous player experience in future updates.
